On Wednesday, January 6, the Privateer Lynx returned to its winter home in Fort Myers Bay, and strapped its lines to local restaurant Nervous Nellie’s dock. All My Sons Moving & Storage of Fort Myers has learned that the notable ship will be here until January 31 and her crew will be inviting visitors onboard for a sailing adventure through the bay each afternoon.
If you have recently made the move to Fort Myers, you won’t want to miss stepping foot on this famous ship to experience traditional sailing. Our local Fort Myers movers believe it’s the perfect opportunity to become part of an American pastime and learn more about American history.
“We love being down there, Fort Myers Beach,” Don Peacock, director of the Lynx Program, said. “You have beautiful tropical water and all the opportunities for education there, that’s really what we are – an education platform teaching early American history, traditional sailing, the skills of maritime past.”
Launched in Maine in 2001, the Privateer Lynx has had a busy sailing schedule traveling around North America to educate people of all ages on the history of sailing.
If you have moved to Fort Myers and are looking for something exciting to do with your family, Privateer Lynx’s staff are offering deck tours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, and cruises from 2-4:30 p.m.
Nervous Nellie’s, Privateer Lynx’s home until the end of the month, is located on 1st Street, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931.
